Transparent Canoe-kayak?
Has anyone had any experience with this boat? It is from Hammacher-Schlemmer and looks really nice. I would be swimming for his Interest in a rather tame rivers. If anyone has one or been in one, how to handle it works? not see through the gimmick is what grabs me is the weighs 40 pounds, which I like.
First off, I have not paddled one. However, the transparent business processes stupid: there is no difference between us by a clear boat into the water and looked into the water beside the boat that is not clear. Check out the photos they show of them … You see just as much of the water alongside the boat as you to do with it. Even if your river is clear and beautiful, there is not much to see anyway. And if you look at the construction and the hull shape, it looks uncertain. Small little mirrors at each end, to keep it afloat? I do not think so. If on the off chance you hit a rock or submerged log (we imagine you float your flow is far so crystal clear and blue as the photos in the boat ad) and you capsize … the boat will behave like a bathtub on the River. Those float bags do nothing to help and the width of the hull is really difficult to reinstate. The only way to do it would be to swim the boat ashore, empty, and climb back in. This was a common Price on game shows for a while. I live close enough to LA and these boats come on Craigslist and eBay all the time. Pointless gimmick and a terrible hull form. Finally, if you search the web you can find comments made on almost any canoe / kayak. I searched and found a number of websites that basically say: "Hey, check this Thing, it's cool, "but not a single witness to someone even has one.
